Link in profile

When I started out with my online business, I used Linktree to create a ‘Link in Profile’ for my Instagram & other social media profiles, allowing me to connect my audience with all my content in just one link.

Typically on social media platforms, you’re only able to share one web address in your profile. When you have multiple places you’d like to direct your audience to there are a few options:

(i) you could change up the link depending on what you are promoting at that time, e.g. if you’re building your email list, your link might direct your readers to your newsletter registration page or if you’re promoting a particular freebie, perhaps your link will be pointing to your lead magnet opt in form and so on.

Another option, which I used initially was (ii) create a Linktree profile. Within my Linktree I had listed out a handful of web pages that I wanted to direct my audience to… my newsletter registration page, my website blog, my free lead magnet opt in forms and so on. Linktree then provides you with a single link that you can use in your profile, and when users click on this it directs them to a page that lists out all the links you added.

If however you have your own website, it’s my recommendation to create your own hidden page on your website that has all your links listed.

Why send your traffic to Linktree, when you could be sending it to your own website!

THREE POINTS TO CONSIDER

  1. Make sure that your page is clean, clear & not too cluttered;

  2. That you don’t have too many links - aim for 5 or 6;

  3. Put your most important link first so it’s front of mind for your audience

My page can be viewed here, www.sarahstewart.co.uk/links if you’d like some inspiration.

I built this myself in SquareSpace (I actually built my whole website myself and it was super easy to do), and I basically created a series of images in Canva for each of my links and then when I uploaded these as images into my webpage I then just added the appropriate link for each one in the image settings.

Let me know if you’d like more details on the how to.
