Small business networking in Glasgow’s Southside

Connect for a Cause

I have been hosting small business networking events in Glasgow’s Southside for over a year now (granted they are only quarterly, but it takes time and energy on my part to organise, market and host them). If you haven’t heard of them before… my small business networking is called Connect for a Cause. And the reason for the name is that I host my small business networking events at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow, so we are doing good whilst networking!

I volunteer most weeks at the hospice and have been doing so for 2 years now. By hosting my small business networking events here too, it’s another way I can give back. The hospice charges a fee for the room rental, they benefit from the catering too as the hospice café provides the food for my events and until now I had been donating the rest of the ticket fee too (so it wasn’t a money making venture for me).

The Business Brunch

I’ve been doing a lot of reflection this month, and one of the topics that came up for me was my small business networking. When I sat with it, what I’ve decided is that as much as they are fun I prefer the smaller more intimate events over the larger ones.

And with that, I’ve decided to shake up my small business networking, and instead of surface level small talk I want to be able to go deep. So instead of the buffet and guest speaker… I’m going to host a business brunch with just 10 people round the table.

Who it’s for?

In my 2023 reflections, I uncovered that the activities that actually made the most impact for my business were my blog and my email marketing. So I’m going to be prioritising these over my Instagram in the year ahead.

For the business brunch, I’m looking to bring together a group of local small business owners that are also blogging for their businesses, and/or are using email marketing. Essentially those that are producing long-form written content.

It’s my hope that we can share what’s working, share lessons learned, collaborate and rise together.

(And if you’re new to blogging and/or email marketing and want to come along and learn as you go… that’s ok too.)

Where are we meeting and when?

The small business networking events will continue to be held at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, but instead of being in the Education Suite we will be in the private dining room.

The first event is taking place on Tuesday 5th March, 10am - 12noon.

And I am aiming to meet every other month across 2024.

Tickets are £25 and include tea or coffee on arrival, your choice of Eggs Benedict, breakfast roll or granola bowl, and then a further hot drink before we depart. There will also be a £5 donation per ticket to the hospice.
