The biggest productivity hack

You may not want to hear this, but one of my biggest productivity hacks is actually going alcohol-free.

Ditching booze has been a massive game changer for me in so many areas of my life… for my health (alcohol just didn't agree well with my Crohn's Disease) and my children (I'm more present as a parent now)… but one that you might not immediately think of is that it's been a game changer for my businesses too.

I have been alcohol-free for 3.5 years, and I have never been more productive (please don't confuse productivity with busyness, I'm going to cover this in a separate blog post… so more on this later).

It was at the end of 2018 that a friend, Roz, challenged me to 100 days sober, starting on 1st Jan 2019. My mindset had already changed following a trip to Vietnam that October (where I wasted a full day of my five day trip being horrifically hungover), and I very quickly got into the rhythm of not drinking. I managed the 100 days… and I just kept going. A bit like Forrest Gump and his running!

Now, instead of being hungover, my weekends are filled with soul-nurturing activities, like painting in my art studio, long dog walks in nature, being fully present with the kids or exploring Scotland in my campervan, Verity.

I am so much more productive than I have ever been, and I feel amazing for it too.

Hit me up in the comments if you have any questions, or feel free to reach out via email (hello@sarahstewart.co.uk).
