How to repurpose content for your small business

My main source of ‘new’ content is my weekly newsletter; it’s here that I’m more open about my life (it feels easier to share in an email where I sort-of know where it’s going, rather than posting it to the world wide web for anyone to see. I realise that I have zero control if someone wants to forward on my email… but hey ho). So when it comes to repurposing content, it tends to be that my weekly newsletter is my starting point.

As an aside, when it comes to collecting ideas for my newsletter, I will jot down any stories or quotes or prompts that come to me in my phone. I log them straight into my Google Keep list. I love my Google suite; it’s G-mail that I use for my business email… so it made sense to me to keep as much as I could in this one suite so that it’s streamlined. I also use Google Drive, a lot, and so if I have more that I want to write then I might hop into my Google Drive and create a Word doc rather than add it to my list.

Here are some of the ways that I repurpose my newsletter to create content for other platforms:

  1. Extract a quote from my newsletter for an Instagram grid post.

  2. Break-up newsletter into a couple of blog posts for my website.

  3. Turn the topic into an Instagram carousel post.

  4. Record the newsletter story as a YouTube video or Podcast episode.

  5. Turn any video content from newsletter into Instagram reels and/or Tik Tok.

  6. Combine newsletters / blog posts into an e-book.

  7. Create a free lead magnet using newsletter articles.

  8. Combine articles into a webinar.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve found this useful, and I’d love to hear your strategies for social media content.
