The year in review: 2025
If I were to describe 2025 in a few words, they would be: niche, purpose and ownership.
My word for 2025 was “growth”, and I’m feeling fairly happy with how I used this word to anchor my thinking across the year, particularly in the business sense. I stepped away from the “coach” label, embracing the term time and project management expert, and leaned into my consultancy offerings.
Taking time to reflect on the year is a worthwhile exercise, because it can be very easy to overlook your achievements and not take time to learn from the challenges. Here are my lessons from 2023 if it’s of interest to you, I also captured my thoughts from 2024 - and read on for my update on 2025.
Business wins
I fully embraced consultancy alongside education. My work in the pharmaceutical industry grew, and I now see it not as a side-step from my core business, it’s clearly part of the bigger picture. I’ve also worked with some brilliant small businesses delivering bespoke time and project management training, and have been mentoring a couple of founders as well.
One of the standout moments? My first official keynote speech - and I loved it! I had invested in a few 1:1 sessions with a speaker coach ahead of the event, and it really made a massive difference. Public speaking is something I’d like to do more of in 2026.
Another exciting milestone was being featured in a book. Stylist’s Ellen C Scott published “Working On Purpose”, and there is a wee section in there where I share thoughts on time blocking and time audits - two of my favourite topics!
2025 was also the year I became a mindfulness practitioner. After 3 years, I submitted all the course work, and passed!!
In terms of visibility… I was a guest on 3 podcasts; I was a guest speaker five times and I was featured in the press a number of times, including an article in the Financial Times and a few articles in Stylist magazine. I also wrote a few guest blog posts for other platforms.
A more personal podcast appearance this year was on Grief Unedited, where I opened up about losing a parent as a teenager. Instead of time tips, I shared part of my story — it’s an emotional listen, and you can hear the episode here.
I continued to publish my own podcast, “Own Your Time” with 19 episodes released this year.
One thing that wasn’t on my 2025 goals list but emerged as a meaningful priority was starting the BCorp certification process. Ever since I first heard of B Corps in 2021, I’ve been intrigued by their ethos - businesses that consider people and the planet, not just profit. And since starting out in business on my own, it's always been on my mind - I choose suppliers with care, I think about my environmental impact and I have chosen to do good in my local community through volunteering. My submission has been made, and I’m hoping to be certified early 2026 (crosses fingers).
As part of my commitment to BCorp, I’ve been delivering pro bono services; 5% of my time was spent at the hospice where I was delivering mindfulness meditations and I also spent 5% of my time delivering pro bono services for underrepresented individuals. If you are a registered charity and are interested in my pro bono services, you can apply here.
Lastly, I’ve signed up for a full rebrand and website redesign. I’ve DIY’d this business for years, but it’s time for a digital home that reflects the calibre of what I do. Coming in 2026!
Personal wins
I completed Hyrox in Glasgow, and survived - just! The training was intense but it was really good having a structured plan and a goal. You can read my musings on the 12 week journey here.
I also stayed consistent with strength training, becoming a regular at Two Birds fitness, where I’ve been lifting heavier and building confidence. A fun highlight? I won the “Most Improved Lifter” award at their Christmas party.
On the health front it’s been a bit trickier. I’ve been experiencing what I suspect is peri-menopause symptoms, although it’s still being investigated. This month my Crohn’s medication was changed in the hope that it will help ease some persistent aches and pains - though part of me is convinced hormones are playing their part too.
One huge personal milestone was managing an overnight trip with my daughter. It might seem small, but given the backdrop of my son’s mental health, it felt like a giant leap. His stability is improving, and that shift has opened up just a bit more space - for both of us.
And… I’m seven years alcohol-free. That number still surprises me. It’s a quiet, steady part of who I am now, and one I’m proud of every single day.
Insights from the year
Some of my business goals weren’t met, especially around audience growth targets. I had big intentions for expansion (my word for the year was growth after all!), but progress was slower than expected. And you know what? That’s okay.
My Q4 live launch of Get More Time also didn’t quite land the way I’d hoped. It’s always disappointing when things don’t gain the traction you anticipated, but it’s also feedback and I’ve gained clarity about what to work on next.
On a personal level, I noticed how much I retreated socially, especially in the first half of the year. During Q1 I was deep in Hyrox training, and I didn’t really re-emerge socially even after the event had passed. Looking back, I can see how much I missed connection. It’s a reminder that being around people (the right people) really matters to my wellbeing.
I also felt the pull of travel again; even short trips made a huge difference. Having something to look forward to felt like a lifeline in certain seasons, and I’m making a note to intentionally create more of those moments in 2026.
Coming soon
A full rebrand and website refresh - I’ve already signed off on this, and I’m super excited to bring it to life with two brilliant female founders.
BCorp certification, I hope!
I’m really disliking Instagram at the moment and so in 2026 I will be leaning into more in-person networking and other lead generation strategies.
Space for more travel, and hopefully in my campervan Verity if I can get her fixed (got a slight issue with the leisure battery at the moment!)
